For Sale
A substantial and most distinctive, non-listed and south facing, Georgian period family house, of circa 2,320 sq.ft., offering 5 double bedrooms (plus study), 3 reception room accommodation, set within well stocked gardens and grounds, generous driveway parking, and situated in a beautiful semi-rural location just minutes from Clifton Village.
A blank canvass opportunity which is to be sold with no onward chain.
Longwood House has a fascinating history. The men who built Longwood were strangers. They spoke a different language and were all a long way from home, but they did as they were told because these fellows were prisoners-of-war from the Napoleonic conflict. The year was 1804 and at the time the development we now know as Longwood in Beggar Bush Lane, Failand, was being constructed by the French prisoners who probably used it as barracks. Later on, we understand, in Victorian times it was an asylum, and, in 1950, the whole property was converted into ten individual homes, each having their own private gardens. It was called Longwood, incidentally, after Napolean who died in Exile at Longwood on the island of St Helena.
The property enjoys a private entrance with an extensive driveway forecourt having space for several vehicles and scope for garden office or such like. In front of the house there is a section of lawn having deep scrub borders that exhibit a wealth of flowering plants and mature shrubs. At the rear, a further area of garden which is fully enclosed by timber fencing and enjoys a good amount of privacy.
Our vendor clients, not long ago bought the house and immediately invested money to prepare the house for renovation as well as landscaping the garden, but due to personal circumstance the house is being sold as a blank canvass opportunity.
Opportunities like this are seldom available especially in this location, and whilst in the fullness of time one might decide to re-imagine the house, it is not necessity, and a more sympathetic upgrade would be perfectly possible.
Ground floor: central reception hall, sitting room, family room, kitchen/breakfast room, utility room.
First floor: landing, double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, four further double bedrooms, study, family bathroom.
Outside: generous parking forecourt with space for several vehicles, integral garage, lawned front garden and private rear garden.
A wonderful semi-rural family house just minutes from Clifton Village which really must be viewed to be fully appreciated.
